Green cleaning is a term that describes a growing trend in favor of using cleaning methods with environmentally-friendly Environmentally friendly are synonyms used to refer to goods and services, laws, guidelines and policies considered to inflict minimal or no harm on the environment. To make consumers aware, environmentally friendly goods and services often are marked with eco-labels. But because there is no single international standard for this concept, the ingredients and chemicals to preserve human health and environmental quality.[1] Green cleaning techniques and products avoid the use of chemically-reactive and toxic Toxicity is the degree to which a substance is able to damage an exposed organism. Toxicity can refer to the effect on a whole organism, such as an animal, bacterium, or plant, as well as the effect on a substructure of the organism, such as a cell or an organ (organotoxicity), such as the liver (hepatotoxicity). By extension, the word may be cleaning products which contain various toxic chemicals In chemistry, a chemical substance is a material with a specific chemical composition, some of which emit volatile organic compounds Volatile organic compounds refers to organic chemical compounds which have significant vapor pressures and which can affect the environment and human health. VOCs are numerous, varied, and ubiquitous. Although VOCs include both man-made and naturally occurring chemical compounds, it is the anthropogenic VOCs that are regulated, especially for (VOCs) causing respiratory and dermatological problems among other adverse effects.[citation needed] Green cleaning can also describe the way residential and industrial cleaning products are manufactured, packaged and distributed. If the manufacturing process is environmentally-friendly and the products are biodegradable Biodegradation is the chemical breakdown of materials by a physiological environment. The term is often used in relation to ecology, waste management and environmental remediation . Organic material can be degraded aerobically with oxygen, or anaerobically, without oxygen. A term related to biodegradation is biomineralisation, in which organic, then the term "green" or "eco-friendly" may apply.[citation needed]

Safer Products Labeling Program
Under the US EPA's Design for the Environment program, products that meet EPA's criteria for safer chemicals are allowed to carry the Design for the Environment (DfE) label. This mark allows consumers to quickly identify and choose products that can help protect the environment and are safer for families, such as green cleaning products.
